Horse country, spring-fed rivers, and acreage at Florida prices from another decade.
Ocala is the Horse Capital of the World, and it looks the part: rolling pastures, live oaks, and the World Equestrian Center, the largest equestrian complex in the country. Marion County also holds the springs, Silver Springs and Rainbow Springs, and a big share of the Ocala National Forest.
Buyers come for land: farms and mini-farms on five to twenty acres, gated equestrian communities, and homes in the historic district near downtown. The southwest side of the county has become a retirement and golf destination, with On Top of the World and the northern edge of The Villages, and prices remain among the lowest in the state for what you get.
